The agricultural and rural landscape that surrounds Camping Rosário is an ideal setting for birdwatching. With such a small human population, little use of pesticide or herbicide, and a warm, sunny weather, insects and wild flowers abound allowing the sustainment of a wide variety of sedentary and migratory birds.

Insect eating birds like the Quail, the Red-legged Partridge, the Bee-eater, the Great Grey Shrike, the Woodchat Shrike , the Corn Bunting and the Stonechat are common species here. The Hoopoe is also very characteristic.

Other species spotted at and around the campsite are the Stone Curlew, the Great Spotted Cuckoo, the Crest Skylark, the Tekla Lark, the Little Owl, the Goldfinch, the Coal Tit, the Serin, the Eurasian Golden Oriole , the Nightingale and the Cattle Egret.

The construction of the Alqueva dam and the creation of the big reservoir attracted many fish-eating species like the White Stork, the Grey Heron and the Black-winged Stilt.
